Wintergreen Renewable Energy Co-op (WGC) was created in response to the growing global climate and economic crises. Born in 2012, we grew from a group of local farmers, green energy advocates, and community partners who shared a common goal: ensuring a sustainable energy future for the region by building community power.
Wintergreen Renewable Energy Co-op is a locally based, community owned co-operative. WGC helps fight climate change by developing and investing in community-based renewable energy projects We envision a region where our energy needs are met through renewable and clean energy technologies. Community ownership and participation provide the foundation for all WGC projects!
WGC pursues projects in the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington region (KFL&A) and surrounding areas. We promote the social, environmental, and economic benefits of co-operatively run renewable energy initiatives! We pursue partnerships with related community organizations in both the public and private sectors. We are collaborating with SolarShare, part of the highly successful TREC Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC).
